Top Four Fashion Trends for Spring/Summer 2025

The warmer vibes of spring and summer cannot get here soon enough. Fashion is inviting us to lighten the mood a bit this year, with pastels, lingerie-inspired looks, and Boho Chic, as well as with fun and flirty polka dots and bows. Embrace the exuberance with these top trends from the runways for the Spring/Summer 2025 season.

After months of swaddling and covering up to avoid the winter cold, Spring always feels like a breath of fresh air, a relaxing sigh that allows us to take ourselves a little less seriously. “I love the un-layering that comes with the spring fashion season,” says Giuseppe Picchiotti, Founder of the PICCHIOTTI brand. “As a jeweler, I am biased. I prefer open necklines for showing off stylish necklaces and shorter sleeves making room for sparkling rings and bracelets. It’s also freeing to dress, knowing you do not have to worry about warmth. Be sure to break open the jewelry box as you enjoy these trends for the season ahead.”

Pastels – Pinks, Blues

Pastels are often prominent in spring as Couture designers yearn for lightening the look. Doff the wool, tweed, and shearling, and opt for sheers, crochet, and shorts for spring, especially in pastel hues. Pink is the color of the season, seen in a wide variety of collections, including Jil Sander, Balenciaga, Balmain, Giambattista Valli, Carolina Herrera, Miu Miu, and more. Baby blue was also seen on a number of catwalks from Acne, Zimmerman, Chloé, Sandy Liang, Rabanne, and others.

Pair these softer hues with gemstones and precious metals in similar colors. Think rose gold, pink sapphires, and mother of pearl for those who prefer a matchy-matchy look. Or take a cue from Chanel and pair contrasting black and pink, such as PICCHIOTTI’s  pink tourmaline and black ceramic cocktail ring. Or pair your pale pinks with darker pinks or some of the red fabrics that have been trending for several seasons now. Balmain topped a hot pink mini skirt with a satiny pastel pink blouse, reminding us of PICCHIOTTI Xpandable “bullet bracelet” in rose gold with bright red sparkling rubies.

The pastel blues range from faded denim to sky blue and call for gemstones like Paraiba tourmaline, turquoise, or PICCHIOTTI’s new gem ceramic blue in necklaces, bracelets, and rings. For optimum flexibility, invest in a reversible bracelet with light blue on one side and bright white on the other – the turquoise gem ceramic works well with all of the spring/summer shades, and the white is wearable all year long.

Polka Dots & Bows

Fashion designers embraced both feminine and fun styles for this season. Polka dots appeared at Valentino, Carolina Herrera, Moschino, Nina Ricci, and more. The repetitive pattern feels pleasing to the eye and allows for interesting accessories. No need for solids or subtlety. Polka dot dresses, blazers, and pants create the perfect excuse for diamond pave jewels, geometric styles like PICCHIOTTI’s  Black Gem Ceramic & Diamond bracelet, and jewelry with continuous round or oval gems like hoop earrings or rings with literal dots of color.

If you are not wearing pastels or polka dots this season, just add a bow to be en vogue. Bows made appearances at Chanel, Giorgio Armani Privé, and Giambattista Valli. The look is classically feminine but with innovative twists, including repetitive bows along the bodice at Richard Quinn and Valentino. Bow lovers can embrace the look in precious metals and diamonds with PICCHIOTTI’s Fiocco Collection. Draping ribbons and bows are crafted in diamonds and gold that work perfectly with bows in fabric or fulfill the trend on their own. Moschino, for example, featured bow drop earrings atop a pearl embellished LBD (little black dress) and Marc Jacobs placed bows on high heel shoes.

Lingerie Inspired Looks

Another exciting trend for the season involves lingerie inspired looks, seen at Ester Manas, Nensi Dojaka, Nina Ricci, and Stella McCartney. Where corsets reigned in recent seasons, designers are now incorporating bralettes, sheers, lace, and garters. Balenciaga embraced erotica with sexy separates, Valentino with sheer gloves, lacy tights and contrasting red bra. Gucci, Chloé, and 3.1 Phillip Lim featured sheer lacey looks.

Try wearing these ultra-soft sheers with the hardness of diamonds.  Lingerie in dress form pairs well with pearl drop earrings or chandelier diamond earrings. Also, edgy and angular shapes like PICCHIOTTI’s new Diamond Rhombus ring, necklace, and earrings provide a nice contrast to the femininity of the fabrics.

The lace looks would work well with jewelry designs that feature negative space or open work, such as PICCHIOTTI’s new Flowers diamond cocktail ring.  Short, high collar or choker length necklaces also make the perfect addition to such edgy and boudoir-inspired looks. Diamond Rivière necklaces, which are showing up on red carpets regularly these days, offer another classic way to anchor with lightweight fabrics and bring a touch of elegance and class to the overall ensemble.

Boho Chic

Boho Chic is another big trend for this year’s warm weather seasons. Flowy garments, crochet, and colorful print fabrics were somewhat ubiquitous. Many 1970s inspired luxe looks, dubbed “Boho Riche” by W Mag, included beaded vests, ruffled collars, and bold patterned prints on the runways at Chloè, Ahluwalia, Ulla Johnson, and Isabel Marant. Crochet appeared in fringed tops at Gabriella Hearst and Loewe, or in long dresses at Chanel and Acne Studios.

This Bohemian style is great for personalized jewelry expressions. Try armfuls of stacked bracelets, particularly in mixed colors, or choose a single bracelet that perfectly complements the shades in the bold print fabrics. Mixed metal jewelry also works, as well as edgy or non-traditional pearls. The smoothness of the metal and/or the pearls will prevent snagging on the crochet styles, and the neutral palette can contrast well with the vibrant colors in the fashions.

Opaque stones like coral or turquoise also offer an earthy aesthetic that pairs well with the vests, animal prints, and leather styles. Wavy or undulating shapes are perfect for the ruffles, especially the lacy ones seen at Chloè, for example. The fun thing about the Boho Chic trend is that pretty much anything goes. Mix things up and express yourself as only you can, and chances are good you will be right on trend!

Other fun trends include big shoulders, the return of flared pants, and wide skirts such as bubble skirts and cylindrical A-line skirts. Pair the season’s padded, pointy, larger shoulders with short necklace like collars and chokers. The full and round skirts call for statement cuffs and sizable earrings to complement the look.

However you choose to reveal yourself this spring, enjoy leaving the sweaters, coats, and gloves behind. Find the jewelry that flatters you most and expresses something about who you are and what you love. Jewelry has that undeniable pick-me-up quality that helps us all put our best smile forward. Let your inner self shine as brightly as the diamonds, gold, and pearls you wear. The world needs more of that radiant light.
